In 1970, I was in the U.S. Army stationed in Viet Nam and as my tour began to wind down, I was planning on leaving active duty and finishing my college degree on the G.I. Bill. I earned a whopping $600 a month while stationed overseas so I started looking for a brand new sports car. After returning home, I found a brand new 1970 Triumph TR-6 and paid $3,600 cash for it. My life had really changed for the good.
While in college, I was an EMT for the county ambulance service.I met Sarah one day while unloading a patient at the ER and I just fell in love. We dated in the Triumph mostly with the convertible top down. We got married and when our first child was born, we had to sell the TR-6 and purchase a station wagon. What a bummer!
Over the years, we owned two more TR-6s, a couple of VW bugs, Thunderbirds, and Pontiacs. I finally got tired of spending money to fix old cars and found our current 1965 Chrysler 300 convertible in Scottsdale, Arizona. It had been fully restored and I was happy to just drive it and enjoy it. We are happy to be living outside Headland in the good old South again. We tried living in Colorado but got tired of shoveling snow.
We are excited about meeting new friends in the car club and attending events.
