9.21.2024 / Barfield's head to Tennessee!
Submitted by Ken Barfield
Linda and I took our grandson and his friend to Sevierville, TN for his birthday trip. While there, on September 21, the F-100 Supernationals and All Ford Show was going on at the Sevierville Convention Center, right up the hill from our condo. This was perfect for us, since we didn’t care about going to water parks with the boys. We just hopped on the shuttle at our condo and they dropped us off at the show. There were quite an assortment of Ford F-100’s, 630 total.

I talked with the owner of the 1966 Ford F-100 (pictured on next page), Franklin Williams of Durhan, NC. He found his truck in a field and bought for $7,000.00, as is. It came with 390, 6 speed. He started building the motor on it and then had knee replacement surgery. Motor and truck sat for 5 years-didn’t touch it. Then, 2 years ago, he decided it was time to start working on it.

He started picking up sponsors - interior, Borla exhaust, headers, matts, bed cover, wheels. The gold trim, 24 karat gold, cost was $5,000.00. A complete frame-off was performed on it-every bolt, screw, wiring-all new. No door handles inside or out-everything electronic-push button start and door openers with emergency release. When I asked what he would take for it, he said $140,000.00. Once completed, he took the truck out to Vegas to SEMA. This was his 1st road show with this truck.

Another truck that caught my attention was the truck with the sandwiches on the hood (see picture below). Heating your sandwiches in the heat of the sun and hood!

We enjoyed the show but bought into the 50/50 pot of $3,000.00 and stayed for the awards and drawing. The awards lasted 2 hours, longest award ceremony every experienced. Unfortunately, after staying that long, we did not receive the 50/50 cash of $1,500.00!
